What does a rank tracker measure?

A rank tracker records where your pages appear in Google for a fixed set of keywords, every day, under the same conditions. Over time that history shows which work moved rankings and which pages need attention.

Where does the ranking data come from?
For your own verified sites, positions come from Google Search Console. Exact daily positions and competitor rankings come from our own search result collection.
Can I track mobile and desktop separately?
Yes. Every keyword can be tracked per device, per country and, for local SEO, from a specific city.
How often are positions updated?
Once a day. Search Console data arrives with Google's usual two to three day delay.
Does it show the ranking URL?
Yes. Each position records which of your pages ranked, so you can spot cannibalization and URL swaps.

How position tracking works

Rank data is only comparable when the inputs stay fixed. Every check stores the keyword, market, device, position and ranking page, so today's number can be read against last week's without guessing what changed.

  • Keyword lists and tags

Group keywords by topic, product or client and report on each group separately.

    • Tags for topics, products or clients
    • Import top Search Console queries
    • Keyword count checked against your plan
  • Country and language targeting

Track each keyword in the market where your customers actually search.

    • One market per tracked keyword
    • Country and language filters
    • Same settings on every check
  • Device split

Compare desktop and mobile positions for the same keyword side by side.

    • Desktop and mobile tracked separately
    • Device filter on every table
    • Side-by-side device comparison
  • City-level tracking

Add a location for keywords where local results change the ranking.

    • Optional city per keyword
    • Local and national results kept apart
    • Maps positions live in Map Tracker
  • Visibility score

One CTR-weighted number that shows how much of the possible traffic you capture.

    • CTR-weighted share of possible clicks

  • Visibility and 7-day change
  • Top 3, top 10 and top 100 counts
  • Winners and losers at a glance

Open the story behind one position.

Every keyword keeps a daily history with its ranking URL, so a drop can be traced to the change that caused it.

  • Daily history chart
  • Best and current position
  • Ranking URL changes

Compare competitors on the same keywords.

Add competitors and see their positions next to yours for every tracked keyword.

  • Head-to-head position table

Turn ranking movement into decisions

Tracking pays off when the list is short enough to act on, the settings never drift, and each change leads back to a page you can edit.

  1. Pick keywords that matter

Track the queries tied to revenue, sign-ups or the pages you are actively improving.

  2. Fix the context

Keep country, device and location constant so changes are comparable.

  3. Look for trends

Act on movement that holds for several days, not on single-day swings.

  4. Diagnose, then confirm

Check the ranking page, make the change, and confirm the recovery in the history.

When to use the rank tracker

Daily positions are most useful when they answer a specific question: did the rewrite work, who moved, which market slipped, and what goes into this month's report.

  • After a content update

Measure whether a rewrite or new section moved its target keywords.

  • When a competitor moves

Spot the keywords where a competitor suddenly overtook you.

  • Across markets and devices

Compare performance between countries and between mobile and desktop.

  • Reporting to stakeholders

Share visibility trends and wins in a monthly report.

Pick the ranking data that fits the question

Use Rank Tracker for a fixed keyword list checked every day, Search Console for every query Google already shows your site for, and Organic Keywords to find the ranking pages worth tracking next.

  • Rank Tracker

Follow a chosen keyword list every day with fixed country, device and location, plus history, ranking URLs and competitor positions.

  • Search Console

See every query and page Google recorded for your verified site, with clicks, impressions, CTR and average position.

  • Organic Keywords

List every query your site already ranks for, with intent and ranking URL, then pick the ones worth tracking daily.

Rank Tracker FAQ

Answers about keyword limits, where positions come from, how often they update, SERP features, and what happens to your history when you change plans.

How many keywords can I track?

From 100 keywords per project on Pro up to 5,000 on Ultra.

Can I import keywords from Search Console?

Yes. Pick your top queries from Search Console and start tracking them in one click.

Do you track SERP features?

Yes. Featured snippets, People Also Ask, local packs, images and videos are recorded with each position.

Will my history stay if I change plans?

Yes. Keyword history is kept when you upgrade or downgrade.

Why does a tracked position differ from my own Google search?

A manual search depends on your location, device and search history. In Search Console mode the position is Google's average for the query, country and device, so it can differ from any single search.

How is Rank Tracker different from Search Console?

Search Console reports every query Google showed your verified site for, with clicks and impressions. Rank Tracker follows the keywords you choose every day and adds the ranking URL and, with exact tracking, competitor positions.
