A backlink checker built on an open web graph

See who links to you, with which anchor text and when the link was first and last seen, using open web data processed every month.

How does this backlink checker get its data?

BigRank builds its backlink index from Common Crawl, a free open dataset of about 3 billion pages crawled monthly. Each month it scans a share of that crawl's link data for links that point to customer and competitor domains, and adds the links its own site audits find.

How fresh is the data?
Monthly. New domains get page-level data at the next monthly run.
How big is the index?
It is a sample: each monthly crawl is scanned in part, so the index is smaller than commercial ones. That is the trade-off for open data.
What is shown for each link?
Source URL, target URL, anchor text, dofollow or nofollow, first seen, last seen and source authority.
Does it find risky links?
A spam risk heuristic flags low authority, link-farm patterns, irrelevant TLDs and sitewide footer links.

What the backlink audit includes

Links come from a share of Common Crawl's monthly crawl, plus the links our own site crawler finds. A link counts as lost only when its page was crawled again without it.

  • Open web index

Links come from Common Crawl's monthly crawl, processed into a link graph that we keep for your domains and your competitors'.

    • Common Crawl link metadata
    • Processed once a month
    • Your domains and competitors' domains
  • Source and target pages

See which page links to which of your URLs.

    • Source URL and target URL
    • Source authority
    • First seen and last seen
  • Anchor text distribution

Anchors are grouped as branded, exact match, generic or URL, so you can see how natural your profile looks.

    • Branded and exact match
    • Generic and URL anchors
    • Share of each anchor type
  • Dofollow and nofollow

Each link is marked so you know which ones pass authority.

    • Dofollow or nofollow per link
    • Dofollow share per linking domain
    • UGC and sponsored links count as nofollow
  • New and lost links

A monthly comparison shows links that appeared since the last snapshot and those that are gone.

    • Monthly snapshot comparison
    • Links gained since the last run
    • Links lost since the last run
  • Spam risk

A heuristic flags low authority, link-farm patterns, irrelevant TLDs and sitewide footer links.

    • Flag on each risky link
    • Level and reasons for each linking domain
    • Filter links by risk

From audit to cleanup

A backlink audit works best as a monthly routine that matches the data: review the new snapshot, deal with what changed, and keep cleanup decisions in one place.

  1. Open the backlink table

Review sources, targets, anchors and attributes.

  2. Check new and lost links

Compare against the previous monthly snapshot.

  3. Review risky links

Look at spam risk flags and decide which to act on.

  4. Reclaim and review

Redirect broken targets and review the domains flagged as risky.

When teams audit backlinks

Backlink data answers questions about trust from other sites: where your links come from, which ones you lost, whether the profile looks natural, and where competitors earn links you don't.

  • Link profile reviews

Understand where your links come from and how they are worded.

  • Lost link recovery

Find links that disappeared and ask for them back.

  • Penalty prevention

Spot unnatural patterns before they become a problem.

  • Competitor comparison

Compare profiles with the Backlink Gap view.

Pages, domains or cleanup: choose your link view

Use Backlink Checker for page-level links with anchors and dates, Referring Domains to judge each linking site by authority, and Disavow Management to keep the risky links you can't remove in one list.

  • Backlink Checker

Audit page-level backlinks with source and target URLs, anchor text, dofollow status, first and last seen dates and a spam risk flag.

  • Referring Domains

See each domain that links to you, with an authority score, link count, dofollow share and first and last seen dates.

  • Disavow Management

Collect risky domains and URLs with notes and a review status, then export a Google-ready disavow.txt file.

Backlink Checker FAQ

Answers about plan availability, where the index comes from, coverage, backlinks to broken pages, crawler-found links, data for new domains and how lost links are found.

Which plans include backlinks?

Max and Ultra. Pro does not include backlinks.

Why is coverage smaller than paid tools?

The index uses open data and monthly processing instead of a commercial crawler.

Can I find backlinks pointing at broken pages?

Yes. Backlinks that point to your 4xx or 5xx pages are listed so you can redirect them.

Are my own crawl findings used?

Yes. Links discovered by the site crawler are added as a supplementary source.

When does a newly added domain get data?

Domain-level data is available right away. Page-level backlinks arrive with the next monthly run.

How are lost links found?

Each monthly snapshot is compared with the previous one. Links that were there before and are missing now are listed as lost.
