What is PageSpeed monitoring?

PageSpeed monitoring runs performance tests on a schedule so you see changes over time instead of one-off scores. BigRank runs Lighthouse with headless Chrome on your tracked URLs and stores every result.

How often are pages tested?
Daily for tracked URLs, plus on demand when you want a fresh test.
Mobile or desktop?
Both. Each result is shown for mobile and for desktop.
What do I get from each test?
The Lighthouse performance score, FCP, LCP, CLS, TTFB, TBT and Speed Index, each rated Good, Needs improvement or Poor.
Can tests run after a deploy?
Run a test on demand after each release. Planned: a deploy hook, called from CI, Vercel or Netlify, that triggers the re-test for you.

How PageSpeed monitoring works

Scores are only comparable when test conditions stay the same. Every run uses Lighthouse in headless Chrome, on mobile and desktop, with limited concurrency per server, so day-to-day changes come from your pages.

  • Lighthouse runs

Open-source Lighthouse runs in headless Chrome, with limited concurrency per server so results stay consistent.

Every tracked URL is tested for both device types.

See speed as a trend.

A single score tells you little. History charts show whether pages are getting faster or slower, and when the change happened.

  • Daily results for tracked URLs
  • Charts for every metric

Know what to fix.

The Lighthouse opportunities list names the changes with the biggest estimated savings, so developers can start with the best candidate.

  • Good, Needs improvement and Poor ratings
  • A verdict for each URL

Catch slowdowns between releases.

Daily runs and regression alerts show when a page slows down. A deploy hook that re-tests after each deploy and marks it on the charts is planned.

  • Planned: deploy markers on charts

From first test to alerts

Monitoring works when it runs without you. Set up the pages once, fix the biggest opportunities, then let daily tests and alerts tell you when something slips.

  1. Choose your URLs

Pick the pages that matter, such as the homepage, product pages and top landing pages.

  2. Read the first results

Check the performance score and metric ratings for mobile and desktop.

  3. Fix the top opportunities

Work through the Lighthouse opportunities with the biggest savings.

  4. Let monitoring watch

Daily runs and regression alerts tell you if performance slips again.

When teams monitor page speed

Daily speed tests matter most where performance can change without warning: after releases, on landing pages that carry traffic, when new third-party tags appear, and in client reports.

  • Release safety

Run an on-demand test after each release and compare it with the day before.

  • Landing page tuning

Track the pages that carry paid or organic traffic.

  • Third-party script audits

Notice when a new tag slows pages down.

  • Client reporting

Add Core Web Vitals to a white-label report.

Choose the right check for speed and availability

Use PageSpeed Monitoring for daily Lighthouse scores and opportunities, Core Web Vitals for lab and real-user ratings of LCP, CLS and INP, and Uptime Monitoring to know whether the site responds at all.

  • PageSpeed Monitoring

Test your key URLs with Lighthouse every day on mobile and desktop, with score history, opportunities and regression alerts.

  • Core Web Vitals

Rate LCP, CLS and INP on key pages from lab tests and real-user data, with a Good, Needs improvement or Poor verdict.

  • Uptime Monitoring

Check your site at your plan's interval for status, response time and SSL expiry, with incidents confirmed from a second location.

Keep going

Look past the performance score

A score is a summary. Compare it with real-user vitals, find the heavy images behind slow loads, and watch response time and uptime for the same site.

PageSpeed Monitoring FAQ

Answers about URL limits, lab versus real-user data, on-demand tests, consistent results, where score drops show up and your result history.

How many URLs can I monitor?

25 URLs per project on Pro and unlimited on Max and Ultra.

Are the results lab data or real-user data?

Lighthouse tests are lab data. Real-user INP, LCP and CLS come from the tracking script in Web Analytics.

Do I have to wait for the daily run?

No. You can also run a test on demand.

Why run tests with limited concurrency?

So that results from different runs stay consistent and comparable.

Where do I see when a score dropped?

On the history chart for that URL, which plots every daily run. Regression alerts also reach you in the app and by email.

Can I see how a page scored last month?

Yes. Every result is stored, and the history charts show each metric over time.
